Gordon MacLarenReg. Archt Dip Arch UCL BScGordon MacLaren has been the architect to a Health and Educational centre at Bromley-by-Bow in the East End of London and has designed or modified all the buildings on their site which includes a 2 ha. Public park. Gordon is head of Management, Practice and Law and course leader for the final registration course for architects RIBA 3. He combines practice with the team at WMLLP on social projects in London and Cornwall, with an academic interest in the politics of public procurement and control, and the future of the profession, together with a wider interest in the possibilities that remain for architecture to ‘make the world a better place’. |

Alex FreemantleRIBA Dip Arch UCL BSc (RIBA Client Design Advisor)lex Freemantle joined Wyatt MacLaren in 2009, and brought with her a wealth of expertise in Educational Design. Until 2010, Principal Architect at Milton Keynes (MK Architecture), Alex designed and saw built several new primary and secondary schools, including a school for Autistic children. Her last project there, Water Hall Primary School, has been entered for several awards. She has previously worked with the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) as an advisor on the BSF project, and for Tower Hamlets Architecture Department.
Alex is lead Architect on the £2.3m Heathermount School project near Ascot, and also works closely with our church clients. She looks forward to further educational work with Wyatt MacLaren.

Alex MacLarenRIBA Dip Arch LMU BA (Hons) Cantab FRSAAlex MacLaren has been practising architecture in London since graduating from Cambridge University in 2003. She teaches in Design Studio at ESALA, The University of Edinburgh, and at Brighton University. Alex was awarded the inaugural ‘Constructing Excellence G4C Champion’ Award in 2009, awarded for outstanding achievement by a young professional in the industry. She has been lead architect on the Camberwell URC project and also works with our residential clients. Alex is Director of the TeamBuild Association, a charitable trust that organises a highly-regarded Annual competition for construction professionals under the age of 30. When studying, she spend 2 years a co-chair of the national architectural student society, then called archaos. Through these roles and others she seeks to improve the quality of architectural education and promote collaboration and integration across the construction industry. She has taught English in Vietnam and worked with schoolchildren in Guyana. “I get a buzz from working with people and making buildings for them. I love the battered grittiness of post-industrial landscapes and the power and comfort of simple churches, mosques or community halls. I love community and monumentality, and am baffled by inhumane complexity, illegibility and ‘wow’.” |

Alex ArestisMA (Cantab) Dip ArchAlex studied at Cambridge University before moving to London to practise Architecture. He continued his studies first at the RCA and latterly at London Metropolitan University. Alex is a skilled draughtsman and designer. He is interested in the way different cultures inform architecture and draws from his own experiences of childhood in Glasgow and Cyprus. |

He is currently working for Wyatt Maclaren LLP before returning to study his Diploma in Architecture. |

Erica BrownErica has a research and project management position in Wyatt MacLaren. She is an Elder of a South East London URC, taking responsibility for the maintenance of the building for the last thirteen years. As a member of a church with a clear mission to disabled people, she is interested in how buildings can be made more accessible to everyone. |
