
The East Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church selected eight churches out of twenty applicants for an initial appraisal for potential future development of buildings and land.
The East Midlands Synod approached One Church, 100 Uses CIC, in order to explore ideas for regeneration and redevelopment of the church sites and buildings, with four of these chosen churches having architectural studies produced by Wyatt Maclaren*.
The Eight Churches were:
Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire
Beeston, Nottingham
Whetstone, Leicestershire
Castle Hill, Northampton
Gainsborough, Lincolnshire *
Ilkeston, Lincolnshire *
St Stephen’s, Leicester *
Well Street, Buckingham *
This document was intended to outline recommendations of the churches moving forward to expand or facilitate their missions. This being inclusive of an analysis of their assets, suggesting strategies to expand their missions, and the potential to be had from the inclusion of enterprise.
