Patrick Mavros Ltd
Alex MacLaren worked on this high-spec, fast-track project in 2004. The client, Patrick Mavros, is an internationally-reknowned sculptor and jeweller in silver. While he exhibits frequently around the world, this was to be his first flagship store outside of the family's homestead in Zimbabwe.
The client's brief for "a piece of Africa on the Fulham Road" had to be balanced with the demands of local planners in this area, the oldest-established conservation area in London. In addition, the programme was extraordinarily tight, with just over six months from appointment to the opening night.
