Bromley-by-Bow Centre - "Bob's Park"

When Wyatt MacLaren first became involved with the Bromley-by-Bow Centre, Bob's Park was a barren and often deserted expanse of grass.

The Centre took over management of the park from the Council, with the aim of enabling the local community to increase their use of the space. To this end, a number of spaces of different 'characters' have been created within the park area.

The ball park allows football games for older children, while younger kids can enjoy the new playgrounds, surrounded by new benches for watchful parents. A 'mound' encloses the curcular grass lawn, creating an informal amphitheatre adjacent to the Centre's buildings. At the far west of the site, community gardening facilities are provided.

These spaces aim to engage each faction of the local community in their public park. in a way which is pleasurable and meaningful to them.
